Babies & Children
A growing spine can have many stresses placed on it, from learning to stand and walk, to prolonged sitting, technology uses, sporting and recreational issues, to mention a few. Because childhood marks a period of rapid growth and development of the spine and nervous system, it’s vital to ensure that the body is able to correctly establish proper connections between the brain and the body. Gentle specific chiropractic techniques designed for growing bodies can help your child maximise this period of development.
The birthing process can place huge stresses on a baby especially if there has been intervention such as use of forceps or vacuum extraction. These stresses may include changes to the shape and movement pattern of the cranial bones (skull bones). This has the capacity to affect things such as baby’s ability to move their tongue and mouth properly, which in turn can affect baby’s ability to latch and feed properly. Another issue that may rise from birth stress can be altered neck and head movement. This may affect lymphatic drainage, effecting proper drainage of the ear which may result in ear infections.
Gentle cranial work may assist movement of the skull bones to help a baby with feeding, ear drainage and head movement.
